2013 Design & Instructional Leadership
Entire SOA Design & Instructional Leadership Returns for 2013
Spirit of Atlanta is excited to announce that the same Designers and Caption Heads who brought you Sin City in 2012 will return for the 2013 season. Under the leadership of Director of Education and Programming, Dr. Mark Waymire (2009-2013), most of these designers and caption heads have been a valuable part of the SOA team for many years. Brass Arranger Dr. Scott Boerma (2008-2013) will again be working with Percussion Arranger & Caption Head Chris Hestin (2011-2013) to develop that signature “Spirit Sound.” Dr. Omar Carmenates (2011-2013) will be taking a more active role as the Front Ensemble Arranger this year while still working alongside SOA’s previous Front Ensemble Arranger Chad Heiny (2011-2013). Taking the “Spirit Style” to the next level for their fourth seasons will be Drill Designer Jeremy Hunt (2010-2013) and Color Guard Designer & Caption Head Jude Boughton (2010-2013). Brass Caption Head Andrew Putnam (2009-2013) will begin his fifth year with the corps and Visual Caption Head Dan Adams (2010, 2012-2013) will be returning for his third. Lead instructors in the guard, percussion, brass, and visual captions will also be returning this season. The full staff announcement will follow later this year.
“We are extremely pleased to have this level of retention and commitment from our designers and key instructional leaders. Consistency of this type is difficult to find in the activity these days and the synergy of the team is unparalleled. If the accomplishments of the recent years are any indication of what this talented group of people can achieve with a dedicated membership, I eagerly look forward to the upcoming season.” – Dr. Todd Snead, Executive Director.
