Dustin Lowes

Bass Instructor

Dustin Lowes specializes in strength and development for drum line visual performance and applied techniques for marching bass drum.  With a combined 21 years of marching-percussion experience, Dustin has spent five of his years as a bass drummer for the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps and many years, thereafter, as a visual percussion and bass drum technician. Marked by his unrelenting work ethic, Dustin was awarded the “ Glassmen of the year” in 2002 and 2003 for outstanding leadership and dedication to the organization.

Dustin Lowes is a self published, electro-acoustic composer specializing in percussion & electronica, music editing for indoor competition and various ventures in film/game music. Having never been formally trained in composition, Dustin Lowes relies on his own experience, exploration and creative ingenuity. His first composition for percussion with electronic accompaniment, "Fear of the Hunted", finished third in the 2005 PAS composition contest. Other highlights include his work for eight percussionists and electronica in "Electrolution" which premiered at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, 2007. All of his work is self published and registered via ASCAP under DUSTIN LOWES MUSIC.

Outside of composing, Dustin Lowes is an educator with an emphasis on marching percussion and music technology. After completing his associate degree in mathematics & sciences in 2009, he is currently in the final stages of finishing his bachelor’s in mathematical sciences and secondary education at Penn State. He continues to study the art of composition and music theory privately.
