Ben Pyles
Battery Coordinator / Quad Instructor
Ben Pyles is currently the Percussion Director at Morton Ranch High School in Houston, Texas. He majored in music education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, studying under Dr. Michael Kingan and Dr. Jack Stamp. Ben has served as the Percussion Director at Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA for many years teaching and designing for both the indoor and outdoor programs. Ben has also taught with the Kiski Area High School from Vandergrift, PA.
Ben's Drum Corps experience started at the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps under the instruction of Chris Hestin and Chad Heiny. Through his three years with the Corps (2003- 2005), he performed as a member of both the front ensemble and battery. He finished his marching career with the 2008 Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the battery under the instruction of Mike McIintosh and Ray Ulibarri. He has spent the last two years as the tenor technician for the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps and is very excited to return as the 2012 Spirit of Atlanta Battery Coordinator!
