SPIRIT OF ATLANTA

Program

For the Spirit of Atlanta, Southern music and blues make a statement. The corps' impressive horn line is well suited to perform the wailing of blues and the quick riffs of jazz with equal skill, drawing attention to the emotions of the music.

Over the past 10 years, the group has been known for several songs, including the ever-popular "Georgia On My Mind." That song is a part of a medley in the show opener to bring back memories of years past with this award-winning drum corps.

In addition, this year's show includes musical variations on "Sweet Georgia Brown," giving the 128 members a new challenge to play laid-back music with precision and fluidity.

Ending the show with familiar gospel music, gives Spirit the chance to fully involve the fans in a hand-clapping, emotional interchange.

The corps' top-ranked color guard interprets the music with grace, departing from the traditional use of rifles and flags to perform challenging choreography.

For Spirit, the drum corps performance is an extension of Southern tradition and charm.
